The cultural association "Musica & Musica" was created in 1990 by the young Venetian conductor "Mario Merigo". The purpose was to give a broader knowledge of the history of baroque music, both vocal and instrumental with a particular reference to the Venetian school. For this reason the Maestro Merigo decided to form the choir "Accademia vocale di Venezia" and the orchestra "Symphonia Veneziana", which he directs.

There is a singing school for beginner and professional singers with individual or joint courses. The school promotes a varity of musical meetings and organizes study holidays abroad. Many pupils and ex-pupils are members of the choir association and they perform either solo or ensemble. Recently the choir and the orchestra, in addition to performing the vast repertoire of Vivaldi, have presented the Dixit Dominus HWV 232 of G. F. Händel at the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto. They were present at the opening of the Mahler Musiksaal in Dobbiaco/Toblach and at the celebrations of San Zeno, the Saint's church in Verona. On the 15th February this year they performed to an enthusiastic audience the Requiem K 626 of W. A. Mozart in the Basilica San Marco in Venice.

This summer they tried something new and performed Mozart's Opera "Le nozze di Figaro" at the theatre Goldoni in Venice and "Così fan Tutte" in concert form. Most important events: XIII Festival of Venice "Viva Vivaldi"- Church of Pietà-Venice Requiem RV 626-W.A. Mozart- Church of the Frari-Venice.
